In September 2020, after enduring what felt like an endless lockdown in South Africa, a team of adventurers set out to the remote Drakenberg mountains.
Their Goal?
To walk the first ever highline in the region, which would become the highest line walked in Africa to date.
If you are looking for an escape, there is no better place! The Drakensberg is an incredibly wild and vast mountain range with very tempestuous conditions, and this group endured it all and filmed the whole process!
Bloc 11, thriving on our community of mountain enthusiasts, wanted to show Cape Town this incredible journey and screened the premiere of the film “Leash up the Dragon” on the 5th and 6th of November.
This film had the whole package; the mood, the setting, the plot line, it had our audiences at the edge of their seats! Staying two nights more than initially planned, waiting for a weather gap and enduring 65-70km/h winds on a highline hundreds of metres off the ground, Tim Slab attempts to leash up the dragon.
This is something most of us could never fathom, but with expert film work and sound we felt as if we were right there! The Q & A’s at the end with the stars and producer added to the whole experience!
We would like to say a massive congratulations to Ruan Kotze, Tim Slab and Wesley Antonites for their exceptional work! And an even bigger congratulations to Tim Slab for his achievement!
