From the 21st of January to the 11th of February Bloc 11 & City Rock united forces to host a super fresh Cape Summer Bouldering League, because you know… Suns out Guns out!
Over 4 weeks, 4 competition legs ran alternating between City Rock and Bloc 11 Paarden Eiland, with a mixed setting team from both gyms. There’s nothing better to a route setter than being able to work with different holds on different terrain with the added challenge of working with a different team. With this recipe, as competitors, you were bound to be taken out of your comfort zone one way or another. However, for every boulder problem that was your anti-style, there was always one to even out the playing field, hitting all the pleasure spots, making for a very event filled competition indeed.
Spirits were high from the start as over 150 competitors of all levels took to the walls each round to battle it out in the summer heat for the ultimate prize… Free gear.
Black Diamond sponsored some awesome prizes to be won, which only made the psych that much higher. So a big thank you must go to them.
We really enjoyed mixing it up with the City Rock setting team and we hope to host similar events like this in future as it not only challenges you our awesome climbing family, it also keeps us setters on our toes and challenges us to continue bringing you the best bouldering quality we possibly can!
